Ryla CEO Named Top Black Entrepreneur for 2005

Friday, August 5, 2005

BALTIMORE, MD - The editors of US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine (www.blackengineer.com) have selected Mark Wilson, Founder, President and CEO of Ryla Teleservices, Inc. for the prestigious 2005 "Top Technology Entrepreneur" honor.

Featured in the fall edition of US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine, which is distributed nationwide to top engineering campuses, engineering and IT professionals, and high-level corporate and government decision-makers, the 2005 top entrepreneurs are upheld as role models, and their accomplishments validate the important contributions Blacks make in the high-tech world on a daily basis.

The top entrepreneurs of 2005 were chosen for their impeccable work ethic, their enduring spirit of entrepreneurship, and the success of their companies in the vital technology sector.

According to editor-in-chief of US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine Tyrone D. Taborn, Ph.D. (h.c.), "It is important to understand the achievements of these Top Entrepreneurs. Their leadership and achievements impact the Black community and broader society far beyond the immediate scope of their companies, communities, and industries."

By spotlighting these Top Entrepreneurs, US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine addresses a serious problem revealed in the Minority Business Development Agency's "State of Minority Business" report, which states that although Blacks represent 12.7 percent of the nation's population, only 4 percent of U.S. companies are Black-owned. Taborn continues, "Clearly, there is considerable room for progress, and our Top Entrepreneurs and their colleagues have the privilege and responsibility of paving the way."

The 2005 Top Entrepreneurs will gather in Baltimore, MD, on February 16, 2006 at a special recognition event during the Black CEO Summit, a high point of the 20th Annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards conference—the nation's premier career development and employee recognition event for Blacks in engineering, science, and technology. At the 2005's Black CEO Summit, the National Urban League President, Mark Morial and Baltimore Mayor O'Malley greeted the CEOs of minority companies and other top executives of Fortune 500 companies. The publishers are excited to be bringing together, alumni and new, Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and minority technology entrepreneurs to round off the celebration of the 20th Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference. The Black CEO Summit will include seminars, keynote addresses by leaders of industry, and the Top Entrepreneurs recognition gala.

US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine has been published for more than 20 years by Career Communications Group, Inc.
